The day
Most people spend three days in Marbella and never leave the marina. The Marbella worth remembering is a ten-minute walk uphill, and it goes a lot better with someone who knows these streets like their own. This is a private, on-foot introduction to the real town — not a script, someone walking you through streets they actually know.
In a couple of unhurried hours, you'll understand Marbella the way locals do: eight centuries of Moorish and Christian history, told the way you'd tell a friend over a drink, not the way it's printed on a plaque.
We start in the modern city — Alameda Park, the Dalí sculptures, the old fishing-village seafront — before crossing into the historic core: Moorish heritage, over 2,700 years of layered civilizations, cobblestone streets, and the Castle Wall, the one surviving fragment of the city's medieval fortifications. We close at Plaza de los Naranjos, the old town's main square, lined with orange trees.
You can personalize the visit with optional add-ons — a free olive oil tasting, a visit to the Museo del Grabado, a Jerez wine tasting, a seated Spanish ham & cheese tasting, or an extra relaxed hour to shop. No — they share the same time slot within the base tour, so it's one or the other.
Does the Iberian tasting extend the tour?
Yes, by about 45 minutes — we'll flag this clearly when you book.
Is this tour suitable for large groups?
Yes, up to 20 people, with a group rate that includes radio guides. (The Jerez wine tasting specifically is capped at 18, due to D'Oliva's space limit.)
Why does it matter if my guide is officially licensed?
In Andalucía, working as a professional tour guide requires a government-issued qualification. It's becoming more common to see unlicensed guides in Marbella running informal, copycat tours without that accreditation — we only ever work with officially licensed guides, so you know you're getting the real thing.
Is this tour suitable for families with children?
Yes — it's an easy, engaging walk for kids, and children go free up to 11 years old. We also bring along a scavenger hunt of Old Town details to keep them entertained along the way.
